After outliving big-box movie rental chain Blockbuster and surviving a near-shutdown last year, Vidiots wants you to know that Netflix and Hulu ain't got nothing on them — and they'll take your money to prove it. The legendary movie buff mecca just launched an crowdfunding campaign to help keep the lights running and offer programs for future film aficionados.
The Indiegogo fundraiser kicked off yesterday and has already hit 16% of its goal of $65,000. Contribution perks range from a thank-you note and sticker ($10) to the chance to curate your own shelf for a month ($100) to a sleepover movie night for up to 25 pals ($2,000) to VHS Library naming rights ($10K, you damn overachiever).
In addition to offering continued access to Vidiots' archives of over 55,000 titles (including rare VHS tapes), the $65K will also go towards pop-ups, screenings of vault faves, preservation initiatives, and educational programs to underserved young film makers, as the fundraiser page notes.
Wanna throw some money into the hat? Hit up Vidiots' Indiegogo page for the full cost breakdown (because we love a bright pink info chart), and more deets right here.
