After closing its Santa Monica outpost earlier this year, Fred Segal is making another major move. The iconic LA retailer is leaving Melrose Avenue (which quietly shuttered a few months back and recently hosted Aritzia's LA pop-up) and relocating its flagship to 8500 Sunset, where it's set to open next fall.
Located at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and La Cienega Boulevard, the 22,000-square-foot space will occupy the ground floor of the luxury mixed-use development. We're told the boutique will feature the same shop-in-shop concept as its OG digs, offering women's, men's, accessories, home goods, and lifestyle departments and highlighting a "an ever-changing roster of independent designers and brands."
Fred Segal Sunset will carry over Melrose's iconic design touches, like its ivy-covered facade, signature stripes, and Mansard awning. In addition, the outpost will also include a bakery and coffee bar by San Francisco's Tartine, a gym, a salon, a florist, and a new indoor/outdoor restaurant and wine shop created by LA restaurateur Bill Chait (who's behind foodie faves like Republique and Bestia, to name a few).
That's not all: the designer lifestyle haven will house the MART at Fred Segal (which the retailer rolled out at its boutiques in Japan), in-house tailoring, a gifting concierge, and other personal shopping services. Just like Fred Segal Melrose, the relocated flagship will host an array of events, like music performances, fashion presentations, and pop-ups.
For now, Melrose's Mauro is still serving; stay tuned for more updates.
