Following the news of Nasty Gal's Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, a U.K. fast fashion retailer now wants to snap up the Girlboss-founded company. Manchester-bred Boohoo confirmed yesterday its petition to acquire Nasty Gal, reports Fashionista.
Boohoo has offered $20 million "to acquire a portion of Nasty Gal's intellectual property" (which includes the LA-based e-tailer-turned-boutique chain's customer databases) and an auction is set for next Thursday, January 5, 2017, notes the fashion news website.
The U.K. company recently acquired Kylie Jenner-approved PrettyLittleThing.com and hopes to grow its own U.S. business should it succeed in its bid to buy Nasty Gal. Per a press release, Boohoo promises to give the edgy LA label "[access to its] product development, supply, and distribution expertise."
No word yet on the fate of Nasty Gal's boutiques on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood and on Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade; stay tuned for more.
