What's a fashionable way to fake a full night's rest? You'll find two answers at style star-faved coffee shop Alfred on Melrose Place, where cool spectacles brand Garrett Leight California Optical is popping up now through the end of June.
The Venice-based label is taking over the java joint's back area, putting Portland-based design firm West of the West to the task of revamping the space previously occupied by Compartes Chocolatier. The 400-square-foot space features a custom mural by designer Charlie Staunton (who also runs menswear shop Virgil Normal), and the shop offers GLCO's full collection of sunglasses (perfect for hiding tell-tale signs of that all-nighter) and opticals.
The pop-up boutique will also house an exclusive lens-tinting machine, allowing frames fanatics to sip on their latte while watching their customized shades get made. In addition, the shop will debut GLCO's ninth issue of its Spectacle of California magazine, which features producer Twin Shadow, Grammy-nominated musician Gallant, and some of LA's coolest restaurateurs (including the talents behind Egg Slut, Bestia, and Night + Market).
Swing by between 9am to 6pm daily, and don't forget to pick up GLCO's coffee sleeve collab with illustrator Blake Wright when you order up that cold brew.
