Call it human instinct, but the change in seasons has a way of inspiring us to rethink our interiors. If this sounds like you, then you'll be happy to know that WestEdge Design Fair is taking over Santa Monica's Barker Hangar for its fifth annual marketplace.
Happening Thursday, October 19 to Sunday, October 22, the four-day contemporary design event will include over 150 exhibitors, a full schedule of panel discussions and seminars including DesignLIVE LA (Thursday) and DIEM: Talks Design (Friday), pop-up shops curated by Design Milk, stylish lounges for those who need to rest their feet, and much more. The event kicks off with a grand opening soirée Thursday night, which will benefit Ronald McDonald House LA and will auction off 20 one-of-a-kind Samsonite luggage pieces created by 20 street artists alongside travel packages.
Also up for sale are customized wine buckets decked by by two dozen artists and designers to benefit Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) and the Thrive Tribe Foundation. The DIFFAxThrive auction will culminate with a reception Saturday from 4 to 6pm.
As far as retail therapy, expect to shop furniture, decor, lighting, textiles, and more home goods from names both local and global, including LA's own Croft House, Bend Goods, Airplant Man, and others alongside Neutra, Cambria, Foscarini, Juniper House, and many more.
