There are some new shops on the block at Malibu Country Mart. The upscale coastal shopping haven has welcomed the second L.A. outpost of global-cool boutique Bravo and soon, celeb-faved shop White's Mercantile's first West Coast shop and Vince's first-ever dedicated home store.
Founded by Israeli-born, locally-based shopkeep Michal Avital, Bravo first opened in 2017 as The Studio L.A. in Woodland Hills and changed its name upon arriving in Malibu. The 651-square-foot space (open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily) stocks a mix of bohemian-luxe essentials for California living, including high-end womenswear from Europe, designer jewelry from India and Israel, and more.
Two of MCM's shops are also expanding their footprints. To make way for its first-ever dedicated home boutique (set to open February 28), Vince relocated its clothing, footwear, and accessories to the space next door. (It was previously occupied by Calypso St. Barth, which shuttered all of its U.S. stores.) The home goods concept space will feature the sleek Cali-cool label's own line of blankets and pillows alongside a selection of candles and decor from brands like Le Feu de L'eau, Norden, and Black Sheep (White Light), as well as chic coffee table books from publishers like Rizzoli and Phaidon.
Also eyeing a bigger space is Faherty, which will grow to about 1,713 square feet, more than double the size of its existing space. Founded by twin brothers Alex and Mike Faherty, the East Coast surf-inspired label first opened in Malibu in 2016 and has seven outposts across the U.S., including in Newport Beach's Lido Marina Village. The coastal-cool brand's also headed to yet another coastal retail haunt: Palisades Village, where its third SoCal shop opens this weekend.
Last but not least, the Malibu lifestyle center's getting a little bit of country this spring by way of White's Mercantile, the Nashville-bred boutique founded by musician Holly Williams (her father is the legendary Hank Williams, Jr.) Already beloved by the likes of Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sheryl Crow, Taylor Swift, Martina McBride, and Faith Hill, the shop is known for its old-fashioned mercantile-inspired interiors and selection of rustic-cool home goods, groceries and gourmet sundries, and more.
