Bummer news for bunny-loving beauty buffs on the Westside. After opening two years ago, Culver City-based Smashbox Cosmetics has shuttered its Abbot Kinney boutique. The store announced an epic sale at the end of February and closed its doors March 3, noting that "Smashbox Venice is moving. A new chapter awaits!"
Founded in 1990 by brothers Dean and Davis Factor (the grandsons of pioneering Hollywood makeup artist Max Factor), the cruelty-free beauty brand opened its first standalone boutique in Venice in July 2017. In addition to stocking Smashbox's full collection of cosmetics and beauty tools, the shop housed a lip gloss customization bar, hosted a regular schedule of workshops and events, and offered makeup services.
