For those seeking thrills beyond theme park horror nights, there are plenty of spooky soirées and events going down around town to fill your festive calendar. From UNICEF's elegant masked extravaganza and Creep L.A.'s nightmarish Instagram museum-inspired show to The Ace Hotel's annual rager and a live orchestra performance of Psycho (complete with an after-party at the stunning theatre) and more, there's clearly no shortage of happenings to pique every level of holiday spirit, music taste, and fashion aesthetic.

Creep L.A.'s 75-minute theatrical Halloween experience returns to Row DTLA, complete with a cast of disturbing characters

Paramount Studios After Dark Tour: Tales From the Other Side (Hollywood): Step behind the scenes at the legendary studio and its spooky neighbor, the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, in this after-dark tour. Get to know the famous dearly departed at the graveyard and supposedly haunted corners of the backlot.

NeueHouse x Rooftop Cinema Club (Hollywood): RCC's Halloween screenings at the stylish members-only club's third-floor rooftop include Beetlejuice and Practical Magic (Oct. 25), Hocus Pocus and The Exorcist (Oct. 26), The Return of the Living Dead (Oct. 27), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Oct. 29), King Kong (Oct. 30), and Halloween (Oct. 31). Nights of the Jack (Calabasas): This family-friendly showcase isn't your average pumpkin patch: It's an illuminated outdoor gallery of artfully carved gourds — from tiny to larger-than-life — featuring pop culture superstars including Sponge Bob Squarepants and scenes inspired by '90s show Are You Afraid of the Dark? and more. The self-guided installation stretches across half a mile at King Gillette Ranch and takes approximately one to one-and-a-half hours to walk through. Strollers are allowed but pets must stay at home, and both valet and self-parking passes are available for purchase.

A New Día by Estrella Jalisco (DTLA): Día de los Muertos takes over trippy geodesic L.A. space Wisdome during the three-week, 21+ pop-up by Mexican beer brand Estrella Jalisco. The journey begins "through endless marigolds," continues with "a walk through water," Monarch butterflies, and more. The night ends with food and drinks; tickets are $35 and available here.

Drunken Devil presents: Black Magick (East L.A.): Party like it's the Roaring '20s at Drunken Devil's annual Halloween bash, which will bring partygoers back to the Golden Age of Magic. The immersive theatrical experience will feature a "terror-tinged storyline inspired by Old Hollywood's mysterious ties to the occult," an open bar featuring magic-themed drinks, a live jazz band, wandering magicians, and more. Lucha VaVoom Fiesta Fantasma (DTLA): "Fiesta Fantasma" is the theme for this year's lucha libre Halloween extravaganza. In addition to masked wrestling, attendees will enjoy burlesque and aerial performances, comedy, a costume contest, and much more. Howl 'O Ween at Malibu Lumber Yard (Malibu): Bring your pups for tricks and treats at Malibu Lumber Yard's pet-friendly Halloween party. There'll be a costume contest, a caricature artist, live music, and more at the free late afternoon bash, which will be located at the Center Courtyard in front of James Perse's shop.

UNICEF Masquerade Ball (West Hollywood): The seventh annual charitable black-tie masquerade gala will feature a live performance by Billie Eilish. This year's theme is "Blue Moon," and guests will also indulge in an open bar, hors d'oeuvres, plenty of photo ops, and more entertainment to be announced. Don't be surprised if you bump into a cleverly-masked celebrity or philanthropist — the charitable event benefitting the children's rights organization has been known to draw stars and high-profile do-gooders.

Día de los Muertos (Hollywood): The 20th annual Day of the Dead festival returns to its usual L.A. haunt with the theme of "Sacred Migrations," honoring the Monarch butterfly — a symbol of "Dreamers and immigrants whose personal journeys echo the annual migrations the butterflies make between Mexico and the U.S." From noon until midnight, expect over 100 colorful altars, art exhibits, Mexican food, shopping, and a full schedule of live music and entertainment across four stages. Attendees are encouraged to wear "your finest Calaca apparel" but note that there are restrictions on what you can bring along (no food, alcohol, glass containers, pets, coolers, and skateboards, to name a few). Hard Day of the Dead (DTLA): The dance music extravaganza takes over L.A. State Historic Park for its Día de los Muertos-inspired rager, which promises headlining performances by Dog Blood (a.k.a. L.A.-bred Skrillex and Berlin-based Moys Noize), Zhu's Blacklizt, Tokimonsta, Elohim, 1799-L, and many, many others. Brownies & Lemonade and A Club Called Rhonda will also be in the house, and there'll be plenty of festive decor, drinks, and more.
