There's nothing like a staycation on the Westside, and the Hyatt knows it. That's why they stepped in with Hyatt Centric Delfina Santa Monica, the lifestyle brand's sixth California hotel. Following a $16 million refresh, the property shines with seaside-inspired design, elevated dining and Santa Monica's only rooftop ballroom. Naturally, we had to check it out ourselves, and we can confidently say it's the perfect spot for a springtime getaway.

Since 2024, Hyatt Centric Delfina Santa Monica has been undergoing a complete reimagining, and it finally wrapped this fall. All 315 guestrooms were redesigned, including seven Sunset Suites with private ocean-view balconies and whirlpool tubs (our favorite)! Designed by Waldrop + Nichols Studio, the hotel's interior celebrates California's relaxed elegance and bold creativity.
"This transformation represents our commitment to creating spaces where guests don't just stay—they connect, recharge, and find inspiration," said Shawn Holliday, general manager of Hyatt Centric Delfina Santa Monica.
"From the busy executive seeking a refreshed oceanside retreat to couples celebrating life's milestones against our iconic coastal backdrop, every element has been thoughtfully designed to deliver experiences that are both meaningful and memorable. The completion of this renovation solidifies our position as Santa Monica's premier destination for those seeking authentic California spirit in the heart of the action."

The renovation also brings Santa Monica's first and only rooftop ballroom, the Delfina Ballroom. With views of the Pacific Ocean, the 4,526-square-foot venue steals the show and offers guests a fabulous location for conferences, meetings and weddings. Who wouldn't want to tie the knot surrounded by their loved ones, favorite Santa Monica eateries and a sunset you'll never forget? Add in a revitalized lobby, a fitness center, and an outdoor pool, and the hotel now delivers a full Westside experience where every detail is designed for both work and play.
Nestled in central Santa Monica, hence "Hyatt Centric," the hotel might be easy to miss if you're just strolling by Pico, but that's part of its charm. Guests pass cafes, boutiques and even a school before arriving, making the first impression feel authentically Santa Monica. Stepping into the lobby, visitors are greeted by soothing blue and beige tones, shutters, and playful art decals that instantly evoke a beachside-casual feel. While the energy of the space is elevated, it's also lively and inviting. With seating for lounging outside rooms, families catching up, couples enjoying mimosas by the pool and remote workers tapping away on laptops, the space truly has something for everyone.
Heading up the elevator, it's hard to believe this tucked-away oasis houses 315 guestrooms, but walking down the hallways proves that great spaces can appear in the most unexpected places. Our guestroom featured plush bedding, ample mirrors, and artwork inspired by the coast, from palm trees to the iconic Pacific Park Ferris wheel. Thoughtful design touches blend comfort and relaxation with a celebration of the city, while private balconies offer views of the ocean, mountains or city skyline. Beyond the rooms, the hotel's on-site offerings make exploring the venue worthwhile. The Sandbox is a clubhouse-style space, equipped with a pull table, darts, shuffleboard, games, workstations, a television and a bar, making it ideal for both corporate events and after-work gatherings.
Now, let's take things outside, after all, it's Santa Monica, and enjoying the sunshine is a must! Guests can soak up the SoCal weather at the hotel's heated saltwater pool or take a short stroll to the beach, less than two miles away. Speaking of the beach, the property makes it easy to stay centered with on-site wellness offerings, including yoga sessions right on the sand, bookable directly through guest services. Back on-property, a state-of-the-art fitness center keeps routines on track, complete with free weights and a Peloton station, so you never have to skip a workout.
While surrounded by some of the city's best restaurants, guests don't have to venture far for a standout meal. Coastal Harvest Bar & Kitchen, the hotel's all-day dining concept, welcomes guests into a sun-kissed space serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu leans into California-inspired cuisine with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, delivering fresh, vibrant flavors in every dish. Our favorite? The steak, perfectly seared and juicy at the center. Behind the bar, an impressive lineup of handcrafted cocktails and a thoughtfully curated mocktail selection ensures there's something for every kind of sip. Best of all, the restaurant can be enjoyed by both guests and visitors looking for a go-to spot to dine.
Bringing the spirit of the Santa Monica Pier indoors, Hyatt Centric Delfina Santa Monica delivers a stay that feels equal parts polished and perfectly Westside. After checking in and soaking it all in, consider this your official sign to book your staycation here.
