After popping up at Platform in Culver City last year, cult-cool music and fashion label Maison Kitsuné has opted to open its first permanent West Coast boutique on the other side of town. The Paris-meets-Tokyo brand has set up shop in Silver Lake, marking its second Stateside outpost.

Open as of last Friday, the brand's first L.A. store is located in the 700-square-foot storefront that previously housed Ragg Mopp Vintage. Drenched in sunset orange (fitting for the shop's cool coordinates), the shop stocks Maison Kitsuné's spring/summer 2021 collection of effortlessly chic womenswear, menswear, and accessories.

Also on offer is the first drop of the label's guest designer series by a rotating lineup of artistic directors, starting with City of Lights-bred fashion industry veteran Marcus Clayton. His collection blends Maison Kitsuné's roots "by combining bourgeoise Parisian prepster and Japanese utilitarian streetwear cool" — think workwear-inspired silhouettes in neutral shades like camel and khaki alongside Francophile coastal-cool staples like rugby polo shirts, sailor tops, and trench coats, to name a few.

The minimalist interiors were designed by Maison Kitsuné co-founder and architect Masaya Kuroki, who decked out the store with an indoor garden inspired by classic Japanese landscaping and California cacti and flora.

Then there's the playlist (of course). The store will feature the brand's roster of musical artists, and the company also plans on collaborating with Angelenos for exclusive in-store offerings.

To toast its grand opening, Maison Kitsuné is treating in-store shoppers with exclusive gifts with their purchase, such as a bandana by L.A. artist and frequent collaborator Ben Klevay (who's also worked as a graphic designer for Juicy Couture and Lucky Brand), and shortbread fox cookies (a nod to the brand's adorable mascot) baked by Echo Park eatery Konbi.

Maison Kitsuné was co-founded in 2002 by former Daft Punk manager Gildas Loaëc and Kuroki. The brand has over 20 other locations in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kyoto, New York, Osaka, Paris, and Tokyo.
