It's got a lactation room and views of the Hollywood sign, too.

Tia Brings Modern Women's Healthcare to Its First L.A. Location in Silver Lake
We're all familiar with the standard doctor's visit routine: Check in at the front desk, disrobe in a mausoleum-like room and fill out a dating app-length survey detailing all of your health toils and troubles on a clipboard — only to be asked, "What brings you in today?" (Cue face palm emoji here.) Here to simplify and personalize the entire experience for women in Los Angeles is Tia, a New York-born healthcare startup that has opened its first West Coast location in Silver Lake.
Upon arriving at the second-floor office, you'll immediately notice the dreamy space's photogenic factor — but what makes Tia's L.A. outpost so special is that all of its specialists are beneath the same chic roof, meaning you won't have to wade through dozens of reviews or a clunky insurance website to find the right general practitioner, OBGYN, therapist, acupuncturist, and others. (Yes, Tia offers all of those and yes, they'll take your insurance — more below.) Throughout Tia's space, you'll also find helpful health tips and facts (keep your eyes peeled!).
The integrative and collaborative approach means that patients and providers both save time (70% off appointments take place online first), allowing in-person meetings to be truly dedicated to discussing your health concerns in-depth. Tia's Whole Health Exam begins on the app, and you'll answer questions about your genetic and family history, chronic stress, exercise habits, mental health, metabolism, nutrition, personal and social wellness, reproductive health, and sleep. Everything is managed on Tia's intuitive app, including booking appointments, communicating with your care team, and more.
Once you're checked in IRL, you'll be greeted by a concierge-like staff who'll offer you Just Water, Recess canned drinks, or Kilogram Tea, and you can grab a seat at the indoor/outdoor waiting room where you can enjoy views of the Hollywood sign and bookshelves stocked with a range of titles on inclusive topics by authors like Roxane Gay, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Dorothy Roberts, Simone de Beauvoir, and many more.
Once you're in the exam room, you'll also be provided with a stylish and comfy robe and cozy socks for staying warm. The clinic also houses a private lactation room and acupuncture treatment spaces.
The natural light-filled clinic was designed by Alda Ly Architecture (which also dreamed up women's club The Wing and Parsley Health's locations) and features the work of women on the halls and walls, from the handmade pottery by L.A. ceramicist Ana Cho, to the paintings and a massive in-the-works mural that will face the office and will span 90 feet. Thoughtfully-designed spaces include color-coded exam rooms named after aloe, turmeric, vitamin D, and water, and planters contain native plants and edible and medicinal herbs.
The health startup works with most insurance companies (including Aetna, Anthem BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, and United Healthcare), so you'll pay a monthly membership starting at $15 (as well as insurance co-pays) that covers your Care Coordinator, unlimited messaging, virtual and in-person appointments, access to community events, referrals to top-tier specialists, and more.
Tia's goal is to guarantee that clients are taking advantage of everything their health insurance has to offer, and the startup's dedicated Care Coordinators will handle all of the bureaucratic hassles for you as part of your membership.
For those without insurance, Tia provides a helpful cash list for services ($250 for a Whole Health Exam, $220 for primary care and gynecology consultations, $50 to $65 to be treated for infections, and more).
Tia was founded in New York by CEO Carolyn Witte, a former Google product designer. The company recently raised $24 million during a Series A funding round, and the brand tells us that it's opening San Francisco and Phoenix later this year.
