Eyeing sparkling additions to your earscape? Starting this Wednesday, Big Apple-born piercing studio Studs is opening its first-ever L.A. outpost on Melrose Place — and another SoCal spot is set to arrive at Westfield Century City next month.
Known for its 'grammable interiors and wallet-pricing, the light-filled space offers appointment-only ear piercing from $35 to $50 plus the cost of jewelry ($30 to $100 and up and sold in singles). Unlike many of the mall spots of our youth, Studs' professional piercers use autoclave-sterilized single-use needles (not piercing guns) to poke your lobes, and an implant-grade flat-back metal labret will be used instead of a butterfly backing.
Stylish pieces for your existing holes range from $14 to $70 and up for simple studs, hoops, gem-adorned huggies, and more. In addition to whimsical charm studs like daisies, cherries, snakes, pavé eyes, and more, the shop also currently offers Studs' Pride collection of rainbow-powered gems. (The brand is also donating $20,000 to the Los Angeles LGBT Center.)
For those with ear party decision fatigue, the shop's experts also offer custom consultations on piercing ideas or to answer your questions. The entire process takes about 20 minutes, but note that the age minimum is 8 years old to get pierced. (Sorry, pint-sized gem lovers!)
Studs was co-founded by CEO Anna Harman (her past titles include director of Walmart's incubator Store No. 8 and head of operations at home organization service Fitz) and CMO Lisa Bubbers (previously VP of marketing for Homepolish), who both saw a hole in the market for a piercing studio with a direct-to-consumer approach (read: transparent and affordable).
Bubbers and Harman debuted their first location in New York (where Kaia Gerber, Hannah Bronfman, and Karlie Kloss have all gotten pierced) in November 2019, followed by a location in Austin in April of this year.
Ready to get pierced? Take a look inside the chic (and safe) space and scroll through the gallery above, and book your appointment online for Studs' new L.A. outpost here.
