In 2010, brothers Henry and George Graham opened a small fashion boutique called Wolf & Badger in Notting Hill to help largely undiscovered luxury fashion and design brands easily sell directly to consumers. Two years later, the duo expanded to a second location in Mayfair. With a steady cult and celeb following and high global demand for independent design, they replicated their physical retail concept with an online platform.
Since then, their two London stores have transformed into a three-level, 12,000-square-foot department store in London's Coal Drops Yard and they've opened a flagship store in Soho in New York. Now, the certified B Corp that gives millions of customers worldwide a streamlined way to shop curated pieces from over 1,800 independent ethical brands has made its way to our neck of the woods with an L.A. store on Melrose.
The single-level, 2,000-square-foot space offers everything from jewelry and clothing to accessories, homeware, and beauty products. There, Wolf & Badger will also host a series of ongoing activations including workshops, product launches, and styling events.
The store's interior design is of balanced restraint and drew inspiration from Wolf & Badger's London and New York City flagship brick-and-mortars while also mirroring L.A.'s uplifting mood. An open layout and minimalistic design lend full attention to the selection of brands that showcase independent and ethically-driven designers and makers from around the world.
Wolf & Badger's core value of sustainability is front and center, too. Tables, countertops, and millwork have utilized recycled and post-industrial waste materials from Durat Palace and Plasticiet while cork and natural wool fibers are incorporated into the bespoke furniture items installed throughout the space, including benches and sofas.
The L.A. debut comes on the heels of Wolf & Badger seeing its U.S. online sales surpass a whopping $100 million. Since 2017, the company has undergone a 100% compound annual growth rate and continues to see year-over-year sales growth in the high double digits.
To celebrate its L.A. opening, Wolf & Badger co-founder and CEO George Graham, along with celebrity stylist Mimi Cuttrell—the woman behind the looks of Gigi Hadid, Madelyn Cline, Ariana Grande, and more—hosted a night of fun at the new store on Melrose Avenue. Guests enjoyed tarot readings by Lindsey Kimura, a turban station by Julia Clancey, and a gift bar brimming with goodies from Wolf & Badger's brands. Guests sipped on specialty cocktails and beverages courtesy of Haus, De Soi, Surely Wines, and Poppi. Notable attendees included model Emily Sears, actor Dominique Druckman, artist Tatiana McQuay, recording artist Genelle Seldon, model Hazel Graye, and podcast host Morgan Lynzi.
