Thuma is bringing its Japanese joinery-inspired furniture and more to Los Angeles with its first SoCal flagship.
The San Francisco-based home furnishings brand is opening soon in West Hollywood on Melrose Avenue at San Vicente Boulevard, right next door to Zinque and across from Guess' new flagship. Expect to find the direct-to-consumer company's minimalist bedframes, headboards, nightstands, shelving, coffee and dining tables, rugs, bedding, lighting, and other furniture and decor made from sustainable materials, such as upcycled rubberwood in natural, espresso, walnut and gray; performance linen and textured weave in neutral hues; Italian wool felt; cotton percale and linen for bedding; and more.
Per Loopnet, the space is about 3,500 square feet; it was previously home to jewelry studio Kuo Design. Thuma's online job listings for retail associates noted that the anticipated start date was March, but that the timing was subject to change. (When we stopped by the storefront at the end of March, doors had yet to open.
Thuma's L.A. outpost marks its third location after flagships in SF and NYC, both of which both feature in-store cafes that serve espresso, cappuccinos, matcha and chai lattes, tea, hot chocolate, cold brew, local pastries, and more ($4-$6). Expect the WeHo showroom to offer the same menu.
Launched in 2017 by co-founders Reed Kamler and Douglas Shumway, Thuma became known for its Japanese-inspired wooden beds with joinery ($1,395+), allowing for tool-free assembly at home. The company also offers matching nightstands, modular dressers, and other minimalist home furniture and essentials.
Stay tuned for more.
