If your ideal summer day includes a little chaos, a little movie magic and a lot of snacks, Universal Studios Hollywood has your plans covered. Mega Movie Summer returns Saturday, June 13, bringing new experiences inspired by "Minions & Monsters," "Wicked," "Fast & Furious" and "The Odyssey" to the theme park for a limited-time celebration of Hollywood storytelling.
Running through Sunday, Aug. 9, the seasonal event transforms the park into a movie lover's playground by heating things up with larger-than-life experiences inspired by some of this summer's biggest films. Illumination's "Minions & Monsters" are bringing their usual brand of chaos to Super Silly Fun Land with new character moments and a dance party led by the new stars, Henry and James, plus themed bites that feel very much like something you'd snack on mid-adventure. The food lineup includes Howard's Berry Lemonade Cupcake, James' Carbonara (a cavatappi pasta tossed in garlic cream sauce with pancetta and peas), and Irene's Orange Banana Float, a frozen drink built for peak summer heat. And in true L.A. fashion, the experience doesn't stop at what you eat is also comes with exclusive merch throughout the park.
The experience doesn't stop there. Across the park, Mega Movie Summer unfolds into a series of immersive film worlds, each bringing a different franchise into real life in distinct ways. On the Studio Tour, "The Odyssey" gets a behind-the-scenes spotlight with a real ship from Christopher Nolan's upcoming film on display, offering a rare look at the production woven into one of Universal's most iconic rides.

In Universal Plaza, "Fast & Furious" takes over for its 25th anniversary celebration with authentic picture cars, daily DJ sets and the Street Racers hip-hop performance, setting the tone ahead of the upcoming "Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift" coaster. The energy carries into dining at Hollywood & Dine, which transforms into Drift & Dine for a limited-time menu featuring items like the Drift Dog, BBQ Corn Ribs and Quarter Mile Funnel Cake. Looking for something a little more magical? "Wicked" fans can defy gravity with appearances from Elphaba and Glinda at a themed photo op near DreamWorks Theatre, while "Jaws" brings a dose of classic Hollywood nostalgia to Mel's Diner with a shark-inspired menu and themed treats. For those who prefer their summer adventures on the sweeter side, Studio Scoops is serving up a Hello Kitty Jaws Blueberry Cheesecake Sundae.
And the movie magic doesn't end at the theme park gates. Universal CityWalk Hollywood is getting in on the action with its own Mega Movie Summer lineup, highlighted by a towering 34-foot Trojan Horse from Christopher Nolan's upcoming film "The Odyssey" arriving in July outside Universal Cinema. Nearby, restaurants are leaning into the blockbuster theme with limited-time menu items inspired by some of the summer's biggest franchises. NBC Sports Grill & Brew is serving up Fast & Furious-themed bites like the Full Throttle Teriyaki Burger and Nitrous Boost cocktail, while Antojitos Cocina Mexicana adds a Birria Burger and La Familia Platter to the menu. For something a little more playful, Voodoo Doughnut is rolling out Minions & Monsters-inspired creations, including the Banana Cream Mayhem Doughnut, while Margaritaville puts a beachy spin on "Jaws" with the Beachside Melt and Forbidden Waters cocktail. Whether you're visiting the park or just looking for an excuse to spend an evening at CityWalk, the celebration spills well beyond the turnstiles.
If one day isn't enough to tackle Minions, witches, street racers and sharks, Universal is making it easier to come back. The park's Buy A Day, Get A 2nd Day Free General Admission ticket gives guests a second visit at no additional cost, with visits valid through Wednesday, Dec. 16. Are you in?
