Two Los Angeles brands are getting travelers into the holiday spirit.

Calpak has tapped the Bob Baker Marionette Theater to dream up a whimsical short film for its winter campaign. The L.A.-based travel accessories company's "Holiday Worth Wishing For" 30-second video transforms the puppetry institution's Highland Park theater into a snow-covered wonderland as handmade marionettes make a young girl's holiday wishes come true. Calpak's bestselling padded Luka duffels, Ambeur carry-on suitcases, Vault luggage, and more adventure-ready essentials roll into action in festive Metallic Red, Glazed Kale, and Sea Glass shades.

The historic marionette troupe performed at Coachella earlier this year, and is currently creating a special show for the 2028 Olympics, per the L.A. Times. The company was founded in 1963 by Bob Baker and Alton Wood and became a mainstay in local family entertainment, and the original theater outside of Downtown LA was named an official Historic-Cultural Monument in 2009. Baker died at the age of 90 in 2014, and dedicated puppeteers relocated the theater to its current location on York Boulevard in 2019. According to the Times, the nonprofit plans to buy its HQ for $5 million and is currently running a fundraiser that has already drawn such major donors as the Ahmanson Foundation, Wallis Annenberg, the W.M. Keck Foundation and others.

As for Calpak, it's not the first time that the label has collaborated with an L.A. icon. The 37-year-old brand last year partnered with Randy's Donuts on a special Glazed Collection; it has also previously teamed up with A-list hairstylist Jen Atkin.

Founded in 1989 by Edward and Judy Kwon, Calpak began as California Pak and manufactured wallets and handbags. The family-owned company eventually expanded into luggage and travel goods, and the Kwons' children, Jennifer and Roy, joined the business and gave it a stylish rebrand.
