Sad news for fantasy and sci-fi superfans. After 14 years of outfitting devotees of Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Dr. Who, and more whimsical flicks and shows, Whimsic Alley is shuttering its digs on Miracle Mile. As Larchmont Buzz reports, the popular fandom-focused shop is closing in June and unleashing 30% off storewide.
Store owner Stan Goldin told the Larchmont community news site that online shopping, parking woes from the nearby Metro construction, and new theme park attractions like Universal Studios' Wizarding World of Harry Potter contributed to slower business over the last year.
Beloved for its wide range of books, outfits, accessories, toys, and memorabilia dedicated to fantasy entertainment, Whimsic Alley is also known for hosting murder mystery dinners, craft fairs, birthday parties, and other magical events. The store's very last craft fair is set to take place Memorial Day weekend from Friday, May 27th through Sunday, May 29th, and there'll also be the fifth annual GoT-themed Feast of Thrones on Saturday, June 24th.
