While the jury's still out on whether Instagram Likes can really buy happiness, LA's social media mavens can at least satisfy their sweet tooth and their followers à la an IRL Willy Wonkian wonderland next month in Boyle Heights. Much to the chagrin of SoCal dentists, Candytopia is set to invade LA with a multi-sensory exhibit filled with whimsical sugar-coated installations (read: social media gold).
Running for three months starting Friday, December 15 at LA Hangar Studios, the dozen-room experience is the brainchild of celebrity candy stylist Jackie Sorkin, who's dreamed up sweet sculptures and events for Disney, Warner Bros., and stars like Katy Perry and Oprah, to name a few. Expect an interactive and imaginative paradise featuring "flying unicorn pigs [and] marshmallow tsunamis" among other sweet surprises, plus plenty of candy to chew on.
Of course, this saccharine-fueled bliss comes at a price: Admission is $30 for adults and $23 for children age 4 to 12; kids 3 and under are free. However, there'll be free parking across the street and valet parking will also be available. Tickets for timed entry must be purchased in advance online online here; given the sold-out success of other sweet happenings, we suggest nabbing them stat as they're expected to go quick.
