Although Mansur Gavriel is firmly based in New York, its designers have history in Los Angeles: Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel met here at an xx concert, then solidified their future with a meet-up the following day at DTLA's flower mart. That fateful meeting has come full circle with the sleek label's first LA boutique, which quietly opened last Friday on Melrose Place.
Much more than just a bucket bag wonderland, the 5,000-square-foot space is clearly an homage to LA's al fresco lifestyle: The millennial pink store (which previously held chic resto Mari Vanna) houses a chic floral shop and the aptly named Café Flora, where shoppers can grab breakfast or lunch (like avocado toast, egg salad tramezzini, pastas, and more) surrounded by olive, citrus, and pomegranate trees; bougainvillea; and more LA greenery in the courtyard. Potted plants like lavender, salvia, gardenia, rosemary, westringia, and jasmine also accentuate the outdoor space; they're even available to take home for $30 to $75.
An indoor garden and pond at the center of the store connects the eatery to the light-filled boutique, which stocks Mansur Gavriel's full collection of luxe leather carryalls, wallets, and minimalist footwear alongside its ready-to-wear collection crafted from vintage Italian fabrics. In addition to the brand's LA Flower Market book, the shop also offers an exclusive hand-painted protea flower monogram on select leather bags, which takes about two weeks to create and ship back.
Also in store are home goods, Murano glass, Italian ceramics, and furniture hand-picked by the designers themselves. The duo also had a hand in creating the café's menu and teamed with chef Scott Boggs, who's now culinary director of Tartine Bakery.
Take a peek inside the dreamy boutique in the gallery above and see below for the address and hours.
Mansur Gavriel is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm and Sunday from 12 to 5pm.
