It's a great time to be a person in LA who likes food, or essentially every Angeleno ever. For the entire month of May, the LA Times' second annual LA Food Bowl is taking over the City of Angels with over 200 gourmand-pleasing happenings.
For 31 straight days, the foodie-focused event is rounding up LA's best cafes, markets, restaurants, hotels, and bars alongside some of the top chefs around the world for a packed schedule that celebrates the coolest culinary scenes and more. From a full slate of panel discussions on topics like the informal food economies of LA's Mexican and Latinx communities (May 24) and writing about home cooking with the one and only Jonathan Gold (May 20), to pop-ups and parties at stylish restos like E.P. & L.P. and Republique, to the massive Night Market at Grand Park in DTLA (May 16 to 20), to a vegetarian- and vegan-friendly No Beast Feast in DTLA (May 19, $150 to $250) there'll be something to please every type of palate.
Chowing down at the month-long fest will get you karma points, too: The event will also help fight food waste and hunger by raising funds to promote food sustainability and security.
