LA Design Fest Takes Over DTLA, Venice, Culver City, and More Nabes Starting Tomorrow

Pop-up shops, exhibits, panels, and much more.

It's a good time to be an LA-dwelling design aficionado, and if you're looking for major inspiration from some of the brightest talents across the globe, then this is definitely your week. Starting tomorrow, the eighth annual LA Design Festival is taking over the city with over 50 events, including the grand opening soirée on Thursday, the Design Block Party this Friday at ROW DTLA, and so much more.

From Thursday, June 7 to Sunday, June 10, the celebration will highlight the best of LA's design scene alongside stateside and international talents. The four-day festivities will spotlight architecture and interiors alongside fashion, costume, set, experiential, graphic, and industrial design by way of workshops, exhibits, installations, panel discussions, pop-up shops, and tours.

Retail therapy highlights include LA Original's pop-up preview and Poketo x HEM's opening party at ROW DTLA (June 8), Brendan Ravenhill and Loll Designs' outdoor furniture collab party (June 8), artful accessories brand Building Block's MOCA pop-up (June 7 to 11), and the cannabis-focused PIPE DREAM LA pop-up at Wittmore's DTLA Arts District boutique (June 8 to 10), Eric Trine's studio sample sale at his rebranded Amigo Modern boutique in Long Beach (June 10) to name a few.

As far as workshops, must-stops include Rebrand Cities' brand-building event (June 7), a Korean skincare workshop at dRA's ROW DTLA boutique (June 8), LoomCrush's mini weaving class (June 9), and Charcuterie & Cheese 101 with Sorella Collective (June 10).

Looking to check out the fest's sights and sounds? There'll be tours and talks at the TWBA\Chiat\Day building with Spatial Affairs Bureau (June 8), a women-led convo about mindfulness and the creative process (June 8), the keynote discussion with LA's first Chief Design Officer (June 8), verynice.'s women's Design Salon (June 9), KCRW's chat with LA artist Peter Shire (June 9), a discussion on sustainable design for the 99% (June 10), and so many more intriguing happenings.
