Nights of the Jack (Calabasas): This family-friendly showcase isn't your average pumpkin patch: It's an illuminated outdoor gallery of artfully carved gourds — from tiny to larger-than-life — featuring superstars from film, TV, and more. The self-guided installation stretches across half a mile at King Gillette Ranch and take approximately one to one-and-a-half hours to walk through. Strollers are allowed but pets must stay at home, and both valet and self-parking passes are available for purchase.

UNICEF Masquerade Ball (DTLA): The nonprofit organization is once again taking over historic LA landmark Clifton's Republic from 9pm to 2am for its sixth annual charitable black-tie gala. This year's theme is postmodern surrealism: Think fancy fashion with Maison Margiela-meets-Magritte in mind. In addition to enjoying a live performance by Foster the People and a DJ set by Mayer Hawthorne, guests will also indulge in an open bar, hors d'oeuvres, plenty of photo ops, and more entertainment to be announced. Don't be surprised if you bump into a costumed celebrity or philanthropist — the charitable event benefitting the children's rights organization has been known to draw stars and high-profile do-gooders.

Creatures of the Night at the Standard (DTLA): The Standard hotel's five-day Halloween festivities kick off Friday, October 26 in DTLA with a spooky-stylish soirée starring some of LA's coolest DJs. KCRW's Garth Trinidad and Matthieu Schreyer and No Vacancy Inn's Acyde will be on the decks while LA filmmaker Alex Pelly will beam projections inspired by the holiday spirit. The Flowering of the Strange Orchid (Pico-Union): Disco Dining Club is joining forces with organic paleo-approved rum brand Batiste for a decadent dinner party inspired by H.G. Wells' botanical horror short story of the same name promises a five-course dinner that will explore "the symbiotic relationship between man and flower." Guests will enjoy theatrical performances, dance numbers, "colorful dinnertime spectacles," and a show-stopping display of hats by provocative milliner Maor Zabar alongside gourmet grub crafted by renowned Bistro LQ chef Laurent Quenioux, themed cocktail pairings by Timothy Baxter of Baxter Speakeasy, DiscoVino wine, ceremonial teas by OneTea, bug pairings by Bugible, and java from Alibi Coffee. Hollywood Stock at Skybar (Hollywood): Get into the spooky holiday spirit while donning your best 1960s style at Skybar at the Mondrian's first of several happenings of Halloween weekend. Creatures of the Night at the Standard (DTLA): The Standard hotel's five-day Halloween festivities continue Saturday, October 27 in DTLA with a spooky-stylish soirée with a costume contest, live DJ sets, and even a healing lounge by Mystic Bazaar. Costumes are required for the 21+ party.

Día de los Muertos (Hollywood): The 19th annual Day of the Dead festival returns to its usual LA haunt with the theme of "Coatlicue: Mother of the Gods," celebrating the lost Aztecan goddess "to pay tribute to feminine power and divinity." From noon until midnight, expect over 100 colorful altars, art exhibits, Mexican food, shopping, and a full schedule of live music and entertainment across four stages. Attendees are encouraged to wear "your finest Calaca apparel" but note that there are restrictions on what you can bring along (no food, alcohol, glass containers, pets, coolers, and skateboards, to name a few). KCRW's Masquerade Ball (DTLA): The cool LA radio station's 21+ Halloween fête takes over the historic Los Angeles Theatre with a rad lineup that includes Santigold, White Denim, Cherry Glazerr (the band, not the Morning Edition host), Shannon Shaw, and the Flaming Lips' brothers Griiin. Skybar at Mondrian's '90s Night: Halloween Edition (Hollywood): Party like it's Halloween 1999 at Skybar's All Hallow's Eve edition of its popular '90s night, which promises drinks, live DJ sets, and plenty of dancing. Tickets include entry to the 21+ Fanged Fête after-party, which will include live DJ sets by Restless Nites. The bloodsucker-inspired screening and soirée return for an encore on Halloween night.
