This weekend's a good one to handle all of your LA gift hunting in one fell swoop. If you're overwhelmed by the mere thought of browsing through hundreds of craft fair vendors, then consider a decidedly more low-key shopping outing this weekend at District La Brea.
Happening this Saturday, December 1 from 12 to 4 p.m., a handful of cool retailers along South La Brea Avenue will be pouring free drinks to shoppers (so long as they're 21 and up), rolling out discounts, and offering freebies. Plus, there'll be a holiday-themed parklet designed by LA's Bend Goods, live DJ sets, selfie stations, and free craft beer samples.
As far as all of those deals, Garrett Leight California Optical will be giving away custom pins with each eyewear purchase, sleek outdoor gear brand Aether Apparel will be giving 20 to 50% off select items along with free alcoholic sips, athleticwear label Champion is giving away a free patch with any purchase of reverse weave items, and Arc'teryx will have free food and drinks alongside special in-store promos.
There are many other stylish savings to be had: at Interior Define, local LA artists are gathering for a holiday pop-up; American-made luxe basics brand Kelly Cole is offering promos and refreshments; Nudie Jeans is hosting an exclusive sale on luxe denim and serving free beers; and Sene is hosting pop-ups by Crown Coffee and sustainable leather goods label Berdine. Plus, Undefeated and Schott NYC will also join the party (they've yet to reveal their in-store promotions.)
Colorful Swedish backpack brand Fjällräven will be using its spotlight during the event to raise awareness of the Channel Island fox, which is facing extinction. (The company has a connection to the Southern California critter, as its mascot is the arctic fox.) Shoppers who spend during the event can swap their receipts for raffle tickets, which might score them prizes like a one-night adventure for four to Catalina Island, a bicycle tour of Santa Monica's historic beach area, and free backpacks.
