There's no shortage of cool L.A. designers and labels who've set up their stylish HQs in the Fashion District, where Angelenos flock to score deals (and support local business owners) at its many sample sales. Starting tomorrow, you can also shop Cali-based produce growers while you restock your wardrobe in DTLA during the California Market Center's first-ever farmers market.
The weekly food bazaar kicks off tomorrow, Wednesday, February 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fashion showroom building's plaza at the corner of 9th and Main Streets. Organized in partnership with California Produced, CMC tells us that half of the market's approximately 30 booths will offer fresh and organic produce, meat, dairy, and more, while the other half will offer artisanal and gourmet ready-made food (like pupusas, tamales, and sushi), coffee, pastries, vegan and vegetarian fare, and more.
Per CMC's Facebook page, tomorrow's début lineup includes vendors like Avocado Mama, Black Sheep Farm & Juicing, 5 Bar Beef, Boule de Pain, Echo Park Farm, Energy Bee Honey, Good Mexican Girl Treats, Me Gusta Gourmet Tamales, Zoe's Almond & Cashew Yogurt, and many others.
That's not all: CMC will kick off its first farmers market with (naturally) a free photo booth by pop-up Instagram wonderland Cheat Day Land (which is headed to the Irvine Spectrum Center soon), so swing by for portraits with your favorite carby guilty pleasure while you shop 'em, too. After tomorrow, expect a rotating lineup of pop-ups, which will will be announced a week in advance on CMC's website.
Though tomorrow's event is a soft launch, CMC's hosting an official grand opening bash and ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday, March 13. Expect live performances, a pop-up footwear sample sale with Chinese Laundry, and more; stay tuned for more details.
In the meantime, see the full roster for tomorrow's farmers market here.
