Midwest-bred label Bldwn may not be in Kansas anymore, but it's got history with the Los Angeles. Its husband-and-wife founders, Matt (who graduated from FIDM) and Emily Baldwin, decamped from L.A. for Leawood, Kansas in 2003 to open their multi-brand boutique, Standard Style, before founding their namesake denim label in 2009. Now that it's helmed by AG Jeans exec Johnathan Crocker (the Baldwins now sit on the board), the CFDA-approved brand has reintroduced itself to the City of Angels with a revamped look and new boutique on Melrose Place.

Formerly dubbed Baldwin, the newly L.A.-headquartered brand has landed not far from the original location where it first opened last year (Indochino moved into its old spot) and ditched the vowels in its name to reflect its sleeker new look. Located next door to Alfred Coffee in Christofle's former space, the 1,100-square-foot shop stocks the modern American label's effortless wardrobe essentials for women and men ($78 to $1,198).

Over in the women's department, expect to shop classic tees and tanks in monochrome shades, denim in every silhouette (such as high-rise, skinny, cropped, and more) crisp button-down maxi shirt dresses, and wide-leg hemp pants; while the men's section stocks casual button-downs, dusty pink sweaters, tailored trousers, actually cool cargo pants, and utilitarian-inspired denim outerwear and bomber jackets, to name a few.

Designed by Bldwn's in-house creative team in collaboration with Montalba Architects (which also dreamed up The Row's store just a few doors down), the museum-like interiors reflect the brand's minimalist makeover with bright white walls and floors, custom millwork, midcentury modern-inspired fixtures, and glass and metal accents.
