Cows, horses, emus, llamas, and peacocks, oh my: These are just some of the over one thousand creatures that The Gentle Barn has welcomed into its Los Angeles haven, not to mention the inspiration and hope it's given to countless humans (including at-risk and underserved youth as well as stars like Ellen Degeneres, Channing Tatum, Alicia Silverstone, Russell Brand, and Sadie Sink, to name a few). This Saturday, September 28, animal lovers can celebrate the star-beloved sanctuary while supporting its mission during its 20th anniversary fundraiser.
Hosted by comedian Whitney Cummings, the farmhouse-chic soirée will honor the L.A.-based nonprofit organization's co-founders Ellie Laks and Jay Weiner along with their volunteers and staff. The ethical evening under the stars will kick off at 5 p.m. with plant-based dinner and cocktails curated by music and nightlife impresario-turned-vegan restaurateur Nic Adler, followed by an awards ceremony with presenters including actress Nikki Reed and MLB All-Star Chase Utley (formerly of the Philadelphia Phillies and the L.A. Dodgers). Dessert and a live DJ will close out the night, and attendees can expect plenty of dancing and heart-warming moments.
