Los Angeles ink collectors, get excited: Starting this month, you won't need to hop on a plane to get tatted by the fine folks at Iron & Ink, the Denmark-born studio known across Europe for its monochrome masterpieces and more. The tattoo shop is set to make its Stateside debut Friday, October 18 when it opens its first U.S. outpost (and fourth worldwide) on Melrose Avenue.
Founded in 2010 by entrepreneur Hawaro Juul Petersen, the Danish studio already has locations in Vejle, Copenhagen, and Aarhus. In addition to creating black and grey wonders, Iron & Ink's team of international artists are known for their fine line designs, realistic pieces, and surrealist work. Drake, Odell Beckham, and Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi are just a few stars who've gotten their skin sketched on by their pros. (Given that the tat shop is landing just a few doors down from celeb-beloved brunch spot Blu Jam Café, expect a steady flow of ink-loving A-listers, too.)
The forthcoming Nordic-cool space will boast "cozy, clean, and minimalistic" interiors" (check out their Aarhus digs for a taste of what to expect) and shares the same address as Radiant Ink Lab; we've reached out to find out if the longtime L.A. shop will remain at that location.
In any case, stay tuned for more, and scroll through some of Iron & Ink's past work here. (Psssst, they're also giving away a $1K tattoo voucher — sign up for their newsletter here for a chance to win.)
