Dermalogica Brings Clean Facials and Clinical Skincare to Melrose

The non-toxic beauty brand has opened its second L.A. shop.

Natural skin health devotees no longer have to trek to the Westside to experience Dermalogica's non-toxic, results-oriented facials. As mentioned, the Marina Del Rey-born skincare brand has set up shop just off Melrose Avenue, where its second L.A. boutique debuted two weeks ago on North W Knoll Drive.

Just like its Santa Monica outpost, the 1,000-square-foot West Hollywood store stocks Dermalogica's full line of botanical-infused products, including best-sellers such as the Daily Microfoliant ($15 and up), foaming Special Cleaning Gel ($39 and up), Phyto-Nature Firming Serum ($145), moisturizers such as the Dynamic Skin Recover SPF50 and the Super Rich Repair ($73 and up), the oil-free Active Moist lotion ($42 and up), and more.

There's a sink area where shoppers can try on products, and in-house skin therapists also offer on-the-go services, such as complimentary Face Mapping skin analysis (which takes just 5 minutes), 10-min. FaceFits, and the 30-min. Pro Skin custom facial ($50 to $65) that delivers results via microcurrent or hydradermabrasion, depending on your concerns and needs.

Those seeking more advanced facials can book a 60-min. version of the Pro Skin facial ($110 to $150), which features a customized regimen of techniques and high-tech treatments such as LightStim LED therapy, Hydrafacial, oxygen, microcurrent, and more.

The boutique also hosts monthly skincare workshops on topics such as product mixology and adult acne, among other events, which you'll find posted on the community board. Modern interior design touches include custom art by L.A.-based artist Priscilla Witte, while a timeline of Dermalogica's evolution (artfully made of the brand's iconic bottle caps) is featured on the wall.

The brand was born in 1986 out of Marina Del Rey's International Demal Institute, which was founded by U.K.-bred aesthetician Jane Wurwand. Dermalogica became known as one of the first brands to offer professional, non-toxic skincare at a time when clean beauty had yet to hit the mainstream.

Happening this Saturday, Feb. 29 and Sunday, March 1, the lineup includes meditation, skin health 101, advanced skin care mixology, and much more. Each class is $15; get more info and book a spot here.
