This Stylish New WeHo Dispensary Offers Affordable Cannabis in a Chic Setting

West Hollywood's cannabis scene has scored another well-informed weed source. Over on La Brea Boulevard, monstera leaf-covered dispensary Calma — which takes its name from the Italian feminine word for tranquility — offers affordable recreational marijuana and even price matches with competitors.

Open as of mid-July, the 3,250-square-foot MJ mecca features floor-to-ceiling windows and stylish fixtures, such as sleek marble display tables and wall paneling, a powder pink check-in station, and a seafoam green fridge case area. A massive UHD LED video wall (it's got a total of 6,119,424 pixels) allows the staff to change the mood in 4- to 8K output: Think calming forest scenes or a relaxing beach.

Another thing that'll give you peace of mind as you shop? Calma donates a portion of sales to the Black AIDS Institute (100% of its opening day proceeds went to the nonprofit organization) and has pledged to give up to $15,000 per month. The dispensary has also committed to hiring previously convicted of nonviolent marijuana-related charges.

In addition to a chill and inclusive atmosphere, every shopper will also enjoy a complete run-down on cannabis, from knowing the difference between ingredients like the psychoactive Delta-9 THC and THCA (which won't get you high) to choosing the right product for your needs (whether that's boosting creativity or shut-eye) to understanding the effects and potency, to name a few.

During a recent masks-on tour of the dispensary, Calma general manager Mara Stusser explains that the exclusive selection includes flower from Frenchy Cannoli (the only other U.S. stockist is Med Men), flower teas (as in actual florals) by Zendo that bloom in water, cookies by Dr. Norm's, and vaginal health oils by Quim. The shop also stocks CBD-infused body lotions from Israel-based Tikun, which Stusser notes is the only cannabis brand with scientific backing, thanks to over a decade in medical testing made possible because it's legal to do so in its native country.

As far as the other green goods, expect to find flower ad pre-rolls from 3C Farms, Cannabiotix, Ganja Gold, Goodflower, Lowell Herb Co., Maven, Pacific Crest, Sundae School, and many others; and vaporizers, concentrates, and oils by Bloom, Dosist, F/eld Extracts, Friendly Farms, Raw Garden, Select, and more. There are also edibles and drinkables such as gummies by Kanha and Kiva, marshmallows by Mellow, and sips by Absolute Xtracts and Canna, to name just a few.
