Pet parents and sitters: Whether you prefer people-free pathways or your social butterfly pup loves finding friend-filled routes, there's now an app for that. Enter Paway, a new Los Angeles-based navigation-meets-social app that makes it easier to sniff out the best dog-friendly walks and restaurants — as well as spots that you and your canine might want to avoid.
Aptly dubbed the Waze for Dog Walking, the app allows users to create a pet profile that shows their beloved tail wagger's personality, whether they're super-friendly or more on the cranky or aggressive side. The app shows nearby dogs (as well as their moods) on your neighborhood map so that you can plan your walk accordingly, and users can even alert others to coyote sightings and eateries that give a warm welcome to pets.
Want to keep in touch while your dog walker takes your fur baby out? Pooch parents can follow caretakers in real-time on the app and share Fido's favorite spots and vet contact info. That's not all: You can even keep track of your four-pawed family member's daily exercise and set walking goals.
An Android version (as well availability in greater L.A. County and NYC) will launch this fall; for now, it's available for iOS here.
