If you've gems and ganja on your mind, treat yourself with a visit to Los Angeles-based fine jewelry label Gjenmi's new studio. Designer Jennifer Sung has debuted her first boutique just around the corner from buzzy York Boulevard, where her by-appointment studio is now open for private shopping sessions and curbside pickup.
Located on North Avenue 51, the chic and intimate space offers Gjenmi's luxe 14-karat gold adornments ($60 to $2,460), such as dainty hoop earrings, rainbow gemstone studs, charming happy face pendant necklaces, engagement-ready rings made with conflict-free diamonds, and more.
You can also scoop up handmade stationery from San Luis Obispo-based Wilde House Paper, lingerie from NYC's Only Hearts, and New York-based accessory brand Edie Parker's Flower line of colorful cannabis goods (think rolling papers, pipes, and CBD-only joints). Passersby in need of inspiration can also take note of the shop window's regular messages for sparking thoughtfulness.
The brand was born in 2013 after Sung created personalized jewelry as gifts for her bridesmaids. That process inspired the self-taught designer to create bespoke pieces for others, and her brand blends Sung's Korean-American heritage (Gjenmi is a combination of her English and Korean names) with her love for antique adornments.
About that retail therapy: Personal shopping appointments are available on Zoom and in-person contact-free visits. Book your next virtual or IRL visit here, and see more inside the light-filled space and scroll through the gallery above.
