Christmas came early for beauty lovers. After shuttering all of its beauty boutiques including on Melrose Place last April due to the pandemic, Glossier has opened its new permanent West Coast flagship store on Melrose Avenue. The new makeup wonderland, which took inspiration from old Hollywood studios and the joy of beauty discovery, is officially opening today, Thursday, November 18, just a few blocks away from their former spot on Melrose Place.
Featuring billboard-sized, Hollywood sign-like Glossier lettering on its facade, the designers aimed to bring a little bit of L.A. into the new location which spans almost an entire block. Inside, visitors can immerse themselves in the luxury of all the cult-favorite label has to offer, which, in this case, is a lot more than just its beloved skincare and makeup products.
Featuring a "Glossier Globe" atop a cascading fountain (reminiscent of Universal Studios' landmark), amphitheater-style communal seating, larger-than-life props like a 20-foot-tall Glossier Lip Gloss and Cloud Paint, there's something to gape at everywhere you turn. And did we mention that there are dedicated skincare and makeup rooms spruced up with perfect selfie lighting and Glossier's signature "You Look Good" mirrors? Sign us up.
As if that isn't enough, the bigger, brighter, and pinker Glossier store has something else L.A. didn't even know it needed – Glossier Alley. A whimsical outdoor destination that doubles as a community hub, the Alley is full of lush topiaries plus a to-go cafe featuring Alfred Coffee's full menu (including a few Glossier specials) and Farmhouse pastries. In the center of it all is a surreal waterdrop marble fountain created by local L.A. artists the Haas Brothers. Known for blurring the line between art and design, the brothers produce playful work perfect for Glossier's vision.
At the new Glossier Melrose flagship, customers will also be able to shop a Glossier L.A. exclusive mini flip phone keychain reminiscent of the early 2000s and a Glossier L.A. exclusive smiley globe sticker. For each keychain sold, Glossier will be donating $5 to New Economics for Women's Women's Business Center.
Glossier's entire space oozes what makes L.A. so progressive and 'grammable – a relaxed atmosphere, elevated accents and art, coffee, and a women's empowerment initiative. Welcome back, Glossier. We've missed you.
