As it continues to take the activewear world by storm, influencer- and star-loved fashion label Set Active has just opened the doors to its first-ever retail pop-up on Melrose. Fashion-forward cuts in a cornucopia of colorways coupled with a drop-based business model supported by collaborations with brands like OUAI, influencers including Aimee Song, recording artist Justine Skye, and actress Madelyn Cline are a few of the ways the brand has managed to stand out in the overly crowded athleisure space.

The 640-square-foot store, which will be open for one year, has been a long time coming ever since the L.A.-based brand exploded in popularity in 2020. But the pandemic halted its plans to develop an in-person experience, causing it to shift focus to online. Now with a community of nearly half a million social followers, it's bringing its elevated ethos to life in a museum gallery-inspired setting.

Designed in partnership with retail platform Leap, the flagship pop-up will showcase Set's core collection, limited drops, and in-store exclusive merchandise, as well as offer a firsthand look at all of its 2023 launches before they're available online. Inside, a digital art wall, a polaroid wall, and a merch-free entrance that serves as a gathering space reinforce the label's commitment to community building.

In a brand Instagram post announcing the pop-up, founder and CEO Lindsey Carter told Set's followers: "This year we were presented with an opportunity to open a yearlong flagship pop-up. It was on Melrose Place – not only is it an iconic location, it's the exact street I used to visit daily to spend hours at a coffee shop and brainstorm the inception of SET. It's where I did everything from network to sit with friends for support when person after person told me I was dreaming too big."

"I, of course, wanted the store to be a place for our community to experience SET, but I also wanted it to be a space for people to take their online relationships and connect IRL – which is why we designed the front of the store to be a place to connect, free from merchandise," Carter added.

Social media manager turned designer Carter founded Set Active in 2018, launching with the brand's proprietary Sculptflex fabric in workout sets that stole the internet's heart and have been worn by the likes of Hailey Bieber and Kaia Gerber. It eventually expanded into loungewear, basics, and intimates, and today also carries outerwear, accessories, and even sunscreen (unsurprisingly via a collab with 80's-inspired sunscreen brand Vacation.)
