Hermès and Chanel almost never offer discounts (unless, of course, you scored invites to their private shopping events) – but online designer rental platform Switch is one way to score deals on the luxury French fashion houses and others during its online sample sale.
Starting on June 16, the L.A.-based luxury membership service is offering up to 90% off its inventory of pre-loved bags and jewelry. Expect to find shoulder bags, cross-bodies, totes, satchels and more from the aforementioned brand alongside Chanel, Gucci, Prada, Celine, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Balenciaga, Chloe, Yves Saint Laurent, Fendi, Bottega Veneta, Marni and many, many others. In the accessories department, find necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings, brooches and belts from Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Chanel, Dior, Loewe, Hermes, Versace, Mel Harper, EF Collection and others.
The sale has a tiered access schedule, and Switch Yearly members get first dibs starting at 9 a.m. PST on Tuesday, June 16, followed by Switch Monthly members on Wednesday, June 17 at 9 a.m. PST. Non-members can start shopping on Thursday, June 18 at 9 a.m. PST. The sale ends for everyone on Monday, June 22 at 10 p.m. PST, and the brand says inventory will be limited.
Switch already gives its members the option to purchase borrowed pieces at a discount (members also earn purchase credits to spend later), so you can expect sale items to be priced below the member purchase prices. Standout finds include an Hermes Narrow Clic H bracelet in cerulean and yellow gold (member price $580, retail value $660) vibrant Chanel Samba Chain flap bag (member price $6,500; regularly $7,000), this classic black leather Prada Cleo bag (member price is $2,110, reg. $4,150); Dior's Oblique Saddle Bag (member price $4,320; reg. $4,500), the Gucci Mini Diana Tote (member price $3,450; reg. $4,300) and so much more.
Not a Switch member? The company offers four plans: the Core membership for $79 per month, allowing you to borrow one item at a time from its Core collection; the Core 3 membership for $169 monthly for three items at a time from the Core tier; the Select plan for $219 per month for one item from its Select collection; or the Select+ tier for $339 monthly for one item from the Select collection and three items fro the Core offerings. Annual plans save 25% off, bringing Switch memberships down to $711 to $3,051 per year.
TL;DR: If you're not yet a member and want the soonest access to the sale, go with the Switch Core annual plan at $711 per year to start shopping as early as Tuesday. Otherwise, the $79/mo. Switch Core tier will get you in on Wednesday, or you can wait until Thursday to shop with the masses.
