Alfred's Fashionable Coffee and Tea Empire Is Expanding to Koreatown and Ditching Plastic Straws

Plus, more on that Brentwood Tea Room.

When we last heard from our pal Alfred, the fashion-faved café was set to open its second LA Tea Room in Brentwood this summer. We've now got a few updates: In addition to opening the Westside tea spot later this season, Alfred is also bringing its stylish coffee cup sleeves to The Line Hotel in Koreatown very, very soon.

After opening at the cool hotel's Austin counterpart back in June, the K-Town outpost is slated to début Monday, August 13 and will include menu specials like "premium drip coffee and our classic 'matcha in coconut', [which is a] shot of matcha served in a freshly cracked coconut," team Alfred tells us. The Westside tea spot (which is actually Alfred's fourth global outpost following last year's double openings in Tokyo) is scheduled to arrive a few weeks later on Monday, September 3 and "will be the first Alfred tea with soft serve on the menu." (Fro-yo devotees, rejoice.)

That's not all: Eco-minded java junkies will be happy to know that Alfred is taking steps to be more Mama Earth-minded. The local chain explains that it's planning on phasing out all plastic straws "by the end of the year," so stay tuned for more on that.
