As if the intersection of indie shops at Sunset and Micheltorena wasn't already cool enough, the retail therapy haunt is scoring another stylish neighbor. Landing in LA all the way from the Big Apple is Brooklyn-bred boutique Alter, which is opening its first West Coast outpost in Silver Lake this fall.
Married duo and store co-founders Tommy Cole and Roy Caires tell us that their first LA store is slated to open in mid-October. They're taking over the 1,300-square-foot space formerly occupied by Maven next door to waxing salon Stark, just steps away from Alfred Coffee and Clare V. Coles tells us the space "will feature a similar brand line-up [for women and men] as our Brooklyn locations as well as some textile-based home goods, [like] blankets, rugs, and wovens. In addition to the brands we carry we always offer unique handmade and one-of-a-kind items regularly to keep it interesting."
As far as merch, Coles says there'll be womenswear and menswear from indie clothing labels like Uzi NYC, Rujuta Sheth, Native Youth, Globe, Kato, Kardo, and Alter's own in-house brand alongside footwear from LA's Intentionally Blank and more.
In addition to their Brooklyn store, Caires and Coles also have a shop in hip New York nabe Greenpoint. Stay tuned for more and take a peek at Alter's soon-to-open storefront below.
