A San Francisco Fave for Stylish Nursery Gear and Toys Has Landed in Culver City

While big-box toy and baby gear stores are disappearing across the U.S., LA's stylish fams and moms-to-be continue to enjoy retail therapy options for cool kid-friendly merch beyond the usual hyper-colorful offerings. The latest to land in our city is longtime San Francisco favorite Aldea Home & Baby, which has débuted its first SoCal boutique in downtown Culver City.

After bringing chic nursery gear and toys to SF's Mission District over 13 years ago, the mindful retailer opened its 3,900-square-foot shop in late September on quiet Main Street, just off restaurant-happy Culver Boulevard. On top of stocking the largest offerings of nursery furniture form eco-friendly brands like Oeuf and Monte Design, the retailer also offers bassinets, cribs, toddler beds, seating, dressers, storage, and more from equally minimalist brands like Stokke, Nook, Fermob, and others.

Expect to find no shortage of earth-friendly (and design-minded) toys, games, and books to fill the chic shelves of kids of all ages, including magnetic wooden blocks from Tegu, recycled plastic playthings from Green Toys, charming plushes from Jelly Cat, craft kits from Seedling, Eames House Blocks from Uncle Goose, many, many more.

The store also stocks baby feeding accessories and gear from Skip Hop, Como Tomo, Lifefactory, Béaba, and Ergobaby, to name a few; as well as non-toxic bath, body, and home products from New Mexico-based spa Ten Thousand Waves, Simply Curated, and Claudia Pearson; and clothing, footwear, and accessories from Milkbarn, Clamfeet, and other cool labels.

For those without kiddos, there's plenty of design-happy decor and other home accessories, including coffee table books, cookbooks, wall art, and clever giftables from LA- and Cali-based brands. The store also houses a DIY aromatherapy bar and offers in-store and online registries for new mamas and papas as well as custom gift baskets for those seeking something special for kids and parents-to-be.
