Westfield Century City's Dreamscape Immersive Experience Will Transport You to Ethereal New Realities

The cinematic 3D adventures were created by a Hollywood powerhouse-backed entertainment startup.

We're only a few days into 2019, but if you're already daydreaming about escaping reality, consider making your way to Westfield Century City. Following last year's successful pop-up, Hollywood powerhouse-founded immersive entertainment studio Dreamscape is setting up permanent shop at the popular LA lifestyle center, where it's now transporting Angelenos to three whimsical and virtual worlds.

Holding court on level two near Eataly and Del Frisco's, the VR-powered cinematic adventures include trips to the intergalactic Alien Zoo (which made its debut during Dreamscape's pop-up last year), the captivating The Blu: Deep Rescue (where aquatic explorers will swim through marine life, shipwrecks, and other underwater wonders), and Lavan's Magical Projector: The Lost Pearl (where moviegoers will venture through the silver screen and into an exotic jungle valley and an ancient temple).

The Departure Lounge.

The otherworldly, free-roaming excursions begin when you arrive in the Departure Lounge, where a Dreamscape Guide will help you get suited in an Oculus VR headset, hand and shoe sensors, and a light backpack. (It's in this welcome room where you'll be encouraged to snap pre-adventure selfies.) From there, you'll be escorted to your adventure pod, which will transport you to the multi-sensory experience of your choice; the entire "getaway" from check-in to returning to the lounge will take about 40 minutes.

As if the high-tech gadgetry wasn't already indication, the experiential tour isn't your average projector show. Founded in 2017 by two Swiss computer scientists, the former head of Dreamworks, a former chief creative officer of Disney Imagineering, and an Emmy-winning music events producer, to name a few, Dreamscape boasts major backing from no a slew of major names and studios in Tinseltown, including Steven Spielberg and Hans Zimmer and well as major studios like 21st Century Fox, Viacom, and Warner Media.

Intrigued? Tickets are $20 and explorations depart Monday through Thursday between 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday between 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday between 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. It's also worth noting that guests must be at least 48" tall and 10 years old; those 13 and under will need to bring along a parent or guardian. To avoid any wardrobe snafus, it's recommended that you wear comfy shoes and avoid heels, flip-flops, long skirts, and flared pants.
