As previously reported, Birkenstock is stepping foot into Venice with its first-ever West Coast boutique — and now, stylish comfort-seekers can shop the German footwear company's fashion folk-faved sandals (including its luxe collabs with Rick Owens and Valentino!) on Abbot Kinney, where its first L.A. store officially opened Thursday.

Located in Tortoise's former space, the 1,200-square-foot beach bungalow is decked out in colorful decor created by Southern California artists, including a massive outdoor mural in the courtyard by surf-inspired painter, Andy Davis, and sculptures of classic Birkenstock silhouettes crafted from recycled skateboard decks by artist Inga Guzyte. Given that the brand is known for its comfy cork footbed, the space boasts plenty of accents made of the lightweight material, from a surfboard to an entire wall.

Inside, expect to find the pioneering 1774-founded European brand's full range of sandals, clogs, sneakers, and boots for women, men, and kids ($30 to $250), including the best-selling Arizona, Cairo, Giza, and Madrid styles as well as the aforementioned luxury fashion collaborations.

Also on shelves are bags, socks, belts, shoe care, and accessories alongside Birkenstock's just-launched natural line of skincare ($25 to $100), which includes products like cooling foot balm, nourishing leg and foot oil, moisturizing face masks, body scrubs, and more.

That's not all: Swing all weekend and enjoy gifts with purchase, activations, and free treats from local labels. You can also see a short film and portraits featuring the seaside community's own Birks-wearers in a video shot by director Ace Norton (who was raised in Venice). Even better? Ten percent of all sales from the store's opening week will go to Venice Arts, a nonprofit focused on teaching photography and film skills to low-income youth.

The Venice shop is Birkenstock's second U.S. store after the brand's New York location in Soho, which opened in October 2018. There are two Birkenstock-approved authorized retailers bearing the brand's name in Sherman Oaks and on West Third Street, but they're not owned or operated by the company.
