Dôen's First L.A. Store Brings Cali-Bohemian Staples to Brentwood Country Mart

It seems Dôen got comfy in the Westside last year following its Brentwood Country Mart pop-up, because the California-boho label has set up permanent shop at the charming shopping haven. The charitable and sustainability-focused brand opened its first boutique last week.

Founded by sisters Katherine and Margaret Kleveland (two fashion industry vets who previously worked at Joie before launching Dôen in 2015), the label has taken over the 900-square-foot corner spot next door to Space NK. Expect to find the L.A.-based direct-to-consumer label's dreamy bohemian womenswear, footwear, and accessories, ($25 to $558), including patterned bandanas, silk slip dresses, floral print maxi dresses, airy blouses and tunics, vintage-inspired pants, leather sandals, and plenty more ruffled and lacy closet staples, plus cute socks by French brand Collégien.

Every piece is unique and inspired us in some way," the sister designers explain in a release. "We hope to evoke the feeling when you stumble upon a hidden gem in a small alleyway outside of Paris, from the hand-painted walls to the special wrapping paper."

Also in the mix is Dôen's charming kids collection ($38 to $98), which they launched in order to reduce waste by using the leftover fabrics from its women's line, with select pieces (such as the Moon dress, the Cloudberry top, and the Bonny dress, to name a few) benefitting girls literacy advocacy group Room to Read. Should little ones get bored during their shopping sesh, there's even a kid-friendly corner filled with toys at the shop — which makes total sense, given that motherhood inspired the Kleveland sisters to create the brand after seeking to work at a company that was authentically for and by women. (There's even a breastfeeding-friendly section at Dôen's webshop.)

The photogenic space was designed by friends (and past sale collaborators) Todd Nickey and Amy Kehoe of go-to L.A. home design firm and shop Nickey Kehoe. In a statement, the duo explained that they "sought to design a space that embodied the spirit of Dôen's essence: Ethereal, grounded beauty. Dôen's inherent femininity guided our selection of the palette, materials, and light fixtures." To achieve the look, Nickey and Kehoe decorated the space with massive reclaimed wood tables, antique cabinets, ceramic and fringed raffia pendants, scalloped-edge sconces, and vintage rugs.

"From the scent we burn and warm lighting to the comfortable rugs and kid corner, we want it to feel comfortable and easy while shopping," Dôen's founders continue.
