Here's some sweet music for your cabin-fevered ears. Architecture-obsessed ice cream maker Coolhaus is transforming its trucks into the L.A. Bodega on Wheels, an online delivery service offering produce, pantry staples, household essentials (yes, including TP), booze, and more from a handful of local businesses and restaurants.
In addition to Culver City-based Coolhaus' own frozen confections, the truck will stock sandwiches alongside groceries and staples like fruits, veggies, baking goods (including flour and sugar), bread, dairy and plant-based milks, and even a giant roll of toilet paper (only $5!), among other items from 101 Coffee Shop. For those Zoom- or Houseparty-fueled virtual gatherings, you can order up alcohol and cocktails from Future Gin, MiniBar Hollywood, and Vervet.
There's no delivery fee, but you'll need to order a minimum of $50 worth of goods. For now, the traveling grocery mart is only available in select central L.A. ZIP codes, including Beverly Grove, Hollywood and the Hills, Koreatown, Larchmont, Los Feliz, Mid-Wilshire, Miracle Mile, and West Hollywood. Deliveries will be made Tuesday through Saturday between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and you'll need to place your order by 6 p.m. to ensure your goods arrive at your doorstep by the next day.
Plus, 10% of proceeds will benefit charities such as Another Round Another Rally, L.A. Regional Food Bank, No Us Without You, and Opportunity Fund's Small Business Relief Fund.
