It was only a matter of time before your local pharmacy got the Gen Z- and Millennial-friendly treatment. Enter Capsule, a New York-based digital pharmacy that's now serving Angelenos at its new Los Angeles outpost on West Third Street — making it especially convenient to refill prescriptions in the social distancing era.
Located not far from The Grove, the free service is available in L.A. and Orange Counties and accepts all major medical insurance plans. Customers can use Capsule's app to manage their medications, schedule same-day delivery or in-store pickup (both are contactless), transfer existing prescriptions, and even chat with a pharmacist.
Per Capsule, all couriers must pass rigorous background checks and HIPAA security training. All medications arrive in a discreet, sealed, and tamper-proof package for privacy. You don't have to worry about having cash on hand — all copays are paid through the app, and since Capsule works directly with insurance companies, the service itself is free.
The pharmacy startup counts Ashton Kutcher and Sir Richard Branson among its investors. It launched in New York five years ago before heading west; learn more about how Capsule works here.
Update 3/23: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Capsule was located between ModelFit and Four Winds; those two businesses are now closed.
