Just in time for spring, Emporio Armani has announced the release of its spring/summer 2022 "Sustainable Selection" with an exclusive pop-up at Fred Segal. The "Sustainable Selection" collection is launching exclusively at the iconic experiential retailer's Sunset store and online, prior to Emporio Armani's complete rollout beginning in April.

With rich purple walls and design elements that bring to mind halfpipes, the skatepark-inspired space mirrors the collection's surf and skate aesthetic. Oversized fits, sprightly colors, and bold graphics such as psychedelic waves and stripes embolden the sporty pieces that play with the codes of formality.

To be exact, Emporio Armani's "Sustainable Selection" offers trench coats, tees, button-downs, blousons, shorts, and pullovers made of organic cotton or blends of recycled cotton and nylon – further showcasing the line's focus on sustainability. Overlays and contrasting lengths and prints create striking looks for the average metro-based surfer and skater.

A wide range of fabrics is featured, including yarn-dyed ripstop, organic cotton denim, and jersey composed of organic cotton or a recycled nylon-elastane hybrid. You can also find garments made of recycled nylon crepe with all-over prints that are fluorine-free and water-repellent – especially important considering a recent study found detectible levels of fluorine in popular leggings and yoga pants from brands like Gaiam, Lululemon, and Old Navy.

Emporio Armani's newfound interest in sustainability is showcased through its approach to more responsible packaging and manufacturing practices ranging from materials to finishes. The label will donate a percentage of sales from its Fred Segal pop-up to the Santa Monica-based environmental non-profit Heal the Bay.

"Emporio Armani is known for their contemporary design and refined style that is perfectly suited for the Fred Segal customer," said chief executive officer and owner of Fred Segal Jeff Lotman. "Sustainability has become a core attribute that we look for when we are partnering with brands, and we were thrilled to learn about Emporio Armani's 'Sustainable Collection.' The synergies between Fred Segal and this collection are simply undeniable."

Launched by Giorgio Armani in 1981 to balance its aging clientele, Emporio Armani is specifically designed to attract younger shoppers. Today, the world-renowned brand has a strong experimental and metropolitan style, yet continues to reflect many of the characteristics of elegance typical of the Armani aesthetics. The brand upholds its original pursuit of acting as a "container" of an array of pieces and accessories for every function and occasion, from sportswear to formal.
