Swedish Outdoors Brand Dometic Is Treating Angelenos to Free Joshua Tree Adventures – Gear Included (Exclusive)

The adventurous company is giving away 17 trips to explore the iconic national park – complete with a car, base camp & food.

The Swedes know a thing or two about happiness and safe driving. Sweden is the 8th-happiest country in the world (the U.S. is 15th, according to the World Forum) and ranks in the top third for road safety (America, on the other hand, is No. 2 for most dangerous, per European car subscription service Finn).

Also unsurprising: L.A. is the 10th most congested city in the world, which is why traffic-worn Angelenos would be smart to take up Stockholm-based brand Dometic's generous offer to get out of town – for free.

From April 14 to 24, the outdoor tech gear company is giving away 17 free trips to Joshua Tree departing within the next month or so, complete with a 4×4 car rental, a full menu created by pro chefs and an entire base camp's worth of sleeping and camping essentials. Adventurers of all skill levels (and 21 or over) can sign up for a chance to score one of the 36-hour getaways for themselves and a guest at Dometic's website starting today.

The adventures include a campsite reservation and entry pass for Joshua Tree National Park, an all-terrain vehicle (either a Ford, Lexus, or Toyota) rigged with portable power, cooking equipment, cozy sleeping gear, and the bestselling CFX5 electric cooler, which will be packed with a chef-prepared seasonal menu to cook over your campsite fire (or camping stove). For the great outdoors newbies, Dometic will also have 24/7 expert help for any on-the-ground Qs while exploring.

Founded in 1925, Dometic began as a pioneer in mobile refrigeration and has since expanded into outdoor tech, including portable coolers and batteries, power stations, RV and trailer accessories, storage racks, camping kitchen gear, drinkware, and more.

Dometic chief marketing officer Peter Jannerö points out TomTom's latest finding that L.A. drivers lost 83 hours to traffic in 2025. "With L.A. now ranking No. 1 in the U. S. for traffic, it's one of the clearest examples of the daily urban grind. Dometic is here to help," he says in a statement.

"Dometic exists to help more people connect with nature," Jannerö continues. "Our products are engineered to simplify and enrich outdoor experiences, and this project is a true manifestation of that purpose. The gear. The car. The food. The plan. We're taking care of it all so people can focus on actually getting out there. Just bring a taste for exploration."
