You'll Want to Move Into Heidi Merrick's California-Cool Boutique in DTLA

Santa Barbara-bred Heidi Merrick is proud of her Golden State roots — a fact evident in the name of her soon-to-open boutique. Dubbed H. Merrick of California (a throwback to the days when clothiers proudly stamped their labels with their home state), the LA designer's flagship is her feminine-luxe homage to the beach lifestyle, smack dab in Downtown just steps away from A.P.C. and the Ace Hotel.

Step inside Merrick's shop and you'll instantly feel the crash of her surfer-girl cool — if it's not the dreamy wood beamed bed decked out in cozy linens, then perhaps it'll be the copper racks of ruffle-edged blouses, cotton dresses, pleated leather skirts, and swimwear in coastal hues (and all made with the refined beach babe in mind). In addition to womenswear, find the designer's line of home goods, including beach towels, throws, and black leather floor pillows.

Naturally, the space also houses the LA designer's surfboard collaboration with her brother Britt. A rock and white sand art installation by her friend Josephine Wister Faure plays off framed photos of the Cali coast by photographer Sharon Montrose and Merrick herself.
