Is it just us, or is basically everything in retrograde? If you're thinking that now's the time to restock on good vibe-giving crystals, canyon hippie closet staples, and more, rejoice: This weekend, modern bohemian bazaar Mercado Sagrado takes over the oak-surrounded grounds of the historic Paramount Ranch in Malibu for its fifth annual gathering.
This Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 14 (11am to 5pm daily), the creative wellness festival promises clothing, accessories, jewelry, art, decor, ceramics, home essentials, artisanal food, and much more mindfully-made merch from well over 130 makers. Rounding out the two-day community-focused experience are live music, plenty of organic food, sound sculptures, mobile architecture, lectures, and a full slate of wellness and healing workshops, like intro to tarot with astrologer and modern mystic Natalia Benson, $40; a medicine kit class with alchemical artist Paula Ferraro, $40; and a holistic food course focused on nervous system support with plant-based chef Mafalda Pinto; to name just a few.
Of course, the earthy fest is family-friendly, too — kids under 12 are free and pups are also welcome, so long as you keep 'em leashed (the canines, we mean). Sagraditos can also enjoy their own lineup of hands-on happenings hosted by Highland Park kids boutique Merci Milo, from Japanese duster crafting seshes to drawing with cool LA author and illustrator Jon Klassen, among other activities.
As if two full days of inspiring nourishment for the mind, body, and soul — not to mention retail therapy — weren't enough, Mercado Sagrado's also hosting a morning after surfing session ($66) Monday, October 15 with cool wave rider Kassia Meador along with like-minded pals Dosist and Indoek. Following the refreshing ride, guests will enjoy an organic brunch, cannabis 101, and a sound meditation led by Meador on the rooftop of Surfrider Malibu.
