Fun fact: Avocado toast was not invented by Californian millennials, but by a Gen-X restaurateur from Down Under. On that note, avo-loving Angelenos have landed yet another way to start their day like an Aussie (by way of NYC) with the arrival of fast-expanding coffee and lifestyle brand Bluestone Lane's new outpost on buzzing West 3rd Street.

Founded by former AFL football player-turned-banker Nick Stone, the Australian-inspired company took over Rendez-Vous Flowers' prime corner spot at Crescent Heights and West 3rd, where its 2,000-square-foot flagship café pays homage to its predecessor with a massive floral mural by Aussie illustrator Madeleine Simson. In addition to offering enough seating for 100 (as well as catering and event hosting), the stylish indoor/outdoor eatery features a walk-up window where guests can order coffee or buy fresh bouquets from Oz-bred florist Poppy Lavender Florals.

As far as food, expect plenty of brunch go-tos like Bluestone's signature Avocado Smash topped with heirloom tomatoes, feta cheese, and sprouts; eggs benedict; Green Baked Eggs with chimichurri, cherry tomatoes, spinach, and feta; a classic breakfast burrito, and other Cali-meets-Oz options.

For lunch, there are healthy bowls and salads, including gluten-free options like the Vegan Grain Bowl, the Mediterranean Bowl, and the Moroccan Chicken Grain Bowl alongside the Fried Chicken Sanga; plus burgers like the Fried Chicken Sanga, the Bay Burger (bacon, rocket, tomato, avo, roasted garlic aioli, and tomato jam on sourdough), and the Lot Burger (caramelized onions, wild rocket, fig jam, and white cheddar), to name a few.

Of course, there's the coffee menu (featuring beans from Bluestone's own Brooklyn roastery): Expect everything from Australian favorites like flat whites, golden lattes, matcha lattes, and beet lattes alongside essentials like macchiatos, lattes, cappuccinos, and cold brews, to name a few. Tea lovers can also order oolong, jasmine, and Giddapahar Darjeeling.

It's all part of Bluestone Lane's plans for West Coast domination, which has brought four locations to LA this year, starting with a Studio City coffee shop in February, followed by La Brea, Santa Monica, and another full-service eatery on Abbot Kinney in Venice (which opened this summer).

Up next? Bluestone's set to open in Beverly Hills (9523 South Santa Monica Blvd., 90210) in January and Brentwood sometime in the spring.

In the meantime, explore more inside its chic eatery-meets-floral shop and see photos in the gallery above.
