Coachella weekend one has come and gone, and we're relieved to report that we came, we saw, and we conquered a handful of the officially unofficial poolside parties and stylish soirées that popped up around the three-day music festival. (Did you catch our IG Stories?)
We hit up #influencer-happy ragers like Revolve Festival, Neon Carnival, The Zoe Report's Zoeasis, Adidas SportClub, and many more happenings as well as stylish pit stops like the YSL Beauty Station and Dolls Kills' Quickie Mart — which is why we needed a hot minute (okay, like five days) to detox our bodies from the desert sun, dust, and whatever else we managed to inhale over three full days of festivities.
Here, we've rounded up some of our favorite events during our High Desert itinerary — read all about 'em below. We'll see you, #Coachella2020?— Additional reporting by Autumn Simon
YSL Beauty Station
The luxury French fashion house's beauty line set up a lippie-filled roadside stop inspired by a gas station for its first-ever Coachella event. In addition to enjoying plenty of photo moments by the vintage Ford convertibles and YSL tour bus, beauty buffs had a chance to peep the beauty label's soon-to-launch eyeshadows as well as stock up on bestsellers (like the Touche Éclat High Cover brightening pen and under-eye concealer, Rouge Volupté Shine lipstick, and the just-launched Volupté Plump-in-Color plumping lip balm). Shoppers also enjoyed a lipstick cap personalization station, free aqua from Flow Alkaline Water, a virtual mirror for instantly trying on over 50 lip shades, and a preview of Palm Springs-inspired makeup looks by YSL global beauty director Tom Pecheux.
The Zoe Report's 5th Annual Zoeasis
Stylist, designer, and The Zoe Report editor-at-large Rachel Zoe hosted her fifth annual Zoeasis at Palm Springs' The Parker, which was transformed into a stylish wonderland where partygoers soaked up tunes from Coco & Breezy and Pamela Katz Tick and enjoyed beauty installations by Zappos, Amika, IGK haircare, Supergoop!, and Sol de Janeiro. Beyond the beauty lounge, guests explored photo experiences including a slow-motion confetti cam from Sephora and an Elton John photo station inspired by Paramount Pictures' upcoming film Rocketman. The event took inspiration from Zoe's spring/summer 2019 collection, which was showcased by Victoria Justice, Madison Grace, Kiernan Shipka, and Alisha Boe during the event. — Autumn Simon
While fashionable festgoers scored everything from Quay eyewear and Benefit Cosmetics and more #RevolveFestival merch alongside bites and sips from In-N-Out, Boba Guys, Amaze Bowls, Matcha Bar, Milk Bar, La Croix, Jaja Tequila, and more (phew!), the highlight of the two-day desert rager was Cardi B's surprise appearance during Off-Set's performance Sunday, April 14. Guests also enjoyed rides like a carousel and a carnival swing ride, a Cotton Shop pop-up, while other performers to hit the stage included Sza, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Zacari, Reason, Rae Sremmurd, Tyga, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Rich the Kid, Saweetie, and Saint Jhn.
Adidas SportClub's BBQ & Basketball
Held at the magnificent Zenyara Estate, Adidas SportClub's kick-off Friday, April 12 was featured a Chinese-Carribean-inspired menu cooked up by New York-based celebrity chef Eddie Huang and and football player Von Miller (who brought fresh ingredients from his farm, Greener Pastures). The crowd at Friday's BBQ & Basketball party was treated to a Three Stripes Three-Point Shoot-Out headlined by New York rapper A$AP Ferg and basket players ballers Nick "Swaggy P" Young, Candice Parker, Trae Young, and Liz Cambage. Ending the event with a bang was a performance from Virginia rapper Pusha-T. — Autumn Simon
To assist festgoers' last-minute shopping needs, edgy label Dolls Kill created a fashion pop-up and art experience in Indio. From April 11 to April 21, the bold fashion brand transformed a former gas station into the Quickie Mart, a 1,200-square-foot boutique stocked with clothing in convenience store-inspired packaging. Shoppers were encouraged to photos with the shop's neon Instagrammable decor and pick up their same-day online shopping items for free. — Autumn Simon
Cîroc Summer House
To toast its limited-edition Summer Watermelon vodka, Cîroc threw a kick-off party Friday, April 12 hosted by singers Evan Ross and Ashlee Simpson-Ross at Palm Springs' Korakia Pensione. Attendees enjoyed hanging poolside with tasty culinary cuisine from Saline Restaurant chef Leandro Bongarra and enjoying crafted Cîroc Summer Watermelon cocktails. Notable celebs we spotted included Karrueche Tran and boyfriend Victor Cruz, model Jasmine Sanders, DJ/actress Rocsi Diaz, and reality TV star Draya Michelle. — Autumn Simon
Lucky Brand x Rolling Stone Live's Third Annual Desert Jam
Blending the festival season's passion for music and fashion, Lucky Brand and Rolling Stone Live threw their third annual Dessert Jam poolside party at Arrive Palm Springs Saturday, April 13. The classic denim brand and the music publication brought live performances by X Ambassadors, Drax Project, Jax Jones, and Ama Lou, and guests enjoyed ping pong, took photos at the Rolling Stone cover-inspired station, and sipped on cocktails provided by Cîroc and Jack Daniels. We spotted Evan Ross, Ashlee Simpon-Ross, Olivia Culpo, Camille Kostek, Dylan Frances Penn, and Justin Combs among the crowd at the daytime event. — Autumn Simon
Neon Carnival
Nightlife veterans Brent Bolthouse and Jeffrey Best hosted their 10th annual Neon Carnival at the HITS Desert Park — and it was one of Coachella's most coveted after-parties. Sponsored by Levi's and featuring partnerships with Aussi beauty brand Bondi Sands and Warner Bros. film Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (as evidenced by the giant yellow character), the outdoor carnival-inspired dance party boasted a ferris wheel, carnival games, and a massive dance floor where A-listers partied all the night to beats by DJ Kayper and DJ Ruckus. Paris Hilton, Poppy Delevingne, Alessandra Ambrosio, Shanina Shaik, and DJ Zedd were among those spotted dancing on the great stage, and the starry crowd also included Quavo, Janelle Monae, H.E.R., Cuba Gooding Jr., Dylan McDermott, and (of course) Leonardo DiCaprio. — Autumn Simon
Lyt x L.A. Weekly Festival Hotel
Also going down at Korakia Pensione was L.A. Weekly and cannabis concierge service Lyt's Festival Hotel bash, where partygoers enjoyed everything from IV drips and health & wellness programs to "hair of the dog" cocktails and a cannabis competition that featured industry experts. Guests included Cuba Gooding Jr., Evan Ross and Ashlee Simpson-Ross, Brooke Hogan, Jasmine Sanders, Karrueche Tran, Victoria Justice, and Ashley Greene.
Desert Beach Club
Celeb-faved nightclub 1OAK teamed with exclusive concierge company Velocity Black and V magazine for its French Riviera-inspired oasis, where partygoers enjoyed live performances by Miguel, Charlotte Lawrence, and special guests. In addition to hitching a ride on sustainable electric bikes by Mate, guests scored swag from Aussie streetwear label Nana Judy and more, complimentary massages and IV drips by Soothe, cocktails by Elyx, water by Pathwater, and more.
Instagram's #IGxDesertChill
The popular photo-sharing social media platform hosted its first-ever Coachella experience at the Pond Estate in Palm Springs, where partygoers enjoyed passed refreshments, personalized their own perfume at a custom scent bar, and grooved to poolside performances by Snoh Aalegra, Siobhan Bell, Omar Apollo, Harry Hudson, and SimiHaze. Of course, the event featured Instagram-ready corners and live doodle bombs by multimedia artist D'ana of COVL.
