Equipment Says Au Revoir to Melrose Place

The Paris-bred, L.A.-based label still has a shop at Westfield Century City.

More Melrose Place news for your Wednesday. After opening in 2013, Paris-born, L.A.-based label Equipment is saying au revoir to the low-key luxury shopping stretch.

We noticed that the label's West Hollywood boutique was closed since at least the beginning of April. Known for its effortless silk button-downs (which run from $195 and up), the brand was founded in 1976 by Christian Restoin and was later acquired by fashion mogul Serge Azria, who also owns Current/Elliott and Joie and is the brother of the late Max Azria of BCBGMaxAzria Group. (The cult-favorite trio is headquartered in Vernon, where it has previously hosted past sample sales.)

The brand currently has boutiques in California at Westfield Century City (where it arrived a few weeks ahead of the lifestyle center's revamp in 2017) and in San Francisco as well as in Boca Raton, Fl.; New York; and Tokyo.

In the meantime, any wild guesses as to who'll take over Equipment's prime corner spot?
