There are no shortage of master classes, workshops, and conferences that'll guide aspiring beauty entrepreneurs to build a successful brand — but when it comes to concocting the next cult-favorite serum or foundation, who you gonna call? Meet Canada-based Cosmetica, which has debuted its first U.S. Innovation Hub in Los Angeles.

Open as of late September, the 7,000-square-foot Woodland Hills facility is decked out in murals, midcentury modern-inspired furnishings, and chic marble accents. We toured the stylish space with Cosmetica U.S. Innovations general manager Shannaz Schopfer (a beauty industry vet with over 30 years under her belt, including with Chanel, L'Oréal, Shiseido, Unilever, Estée Lauder, and LVMH, to name just a few), who explained that the company chose L.A. for its first international outpost in order to be closer to its extensive roster of California-based clients.

While Schopfer can't name names, she notes that many of them are familiar brands found on the shelves of Sephora and other major retailers. Translation? Cosmetica clients are in in very, very good company.

Cosmetica president Linda Kuga Pikulin adds that the L.A. laboratory will cater to the company's West Coast clients' growing demands as well as help ambitious indie labels get their businesses off the ground. So whether you're building your future It beauty brand from scratch or you need to give your goods a makeover, the company offers start-to-finish and turnkey services, including product development, R&D, project management, manufacturing, quality assurance and control, supply chain, and much more.

The space is also equipped to churn out small-batch product runs of up to 500 units, thanks to its state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment, which can mix up mascara and foundation (Cosmetica's most requested products) alongside skincare, lip products, powders, emulsions, and slurries.

There's also a closet filled with the latest and greatest buzzy ingredients and almost every pigment imaginable; the company can also whip up non-toxic formulas and is currently exploring the latest raw materials to give clean beauty labels the most innovative offerings.
